Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Integration and the Diaspora

Missions

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is responsible for implementing and monitoring the government’s foreign policy in Côte d’Ivoire.

In this capacity and in liaison with the various ministerial departments concerned, it has the initiative and responsibility for actions, the most important of which in traditional terms are :

  • Representing the Government abroad.
  • To provide national authorities with the information they need to conduct bilateral and international relations in an informed manner.
  • Conducting or facilitating negotiations with external partners on commercial, political, legal or social issues.
  • Protect Ivorian nationals abroad.

This classic definition has undergone a clear evolution, which has led Ivorian diplomacy to take on new tasks such as :

  • Increased mobilisation of external resources, particularly financial and technological, as part of eco-diplomacy.
  • The establishment of renewed partnerships with new allies represented by the countries of Asia and the Arabian Gulf.
  • The proactive campaign to improve Côte d’Ivoire’s brand image as it seeks to reposition itself on the world stage.
